radio & TV microwaves infra-red visible spectrum x-rays gamma rays

These waves have a long wavelength and a low frequency

Microwaves are used in cooking and satellite communications

We feel Infra Red radiation as heat

A rainbow is one example of the visible part of the spectrum

X-rays are used to view bones and other body structures

These dangerous waves have a short wavelength and a high frequency

Radio and television waves have a long wavelength and a low frequency ... they are quite safe to us. The higher the frequency of a wave, however, the more dangerous it becomes. Gamma rays, for example, are very dangerous to humans.
Light is made up of colours which each have a different wavelength. Red light has a longer wavelength than blue light.

Now answer these questions

  1. What has the longest wavelength ?
  2. What has the shortest wavelength ?
  3. Which part of the spectrum can we see ?
  4. Which of these has the longest wavelength ?
  5. Which of these is the most dangerous ?
  6. Which colour has the longest wavelength ?
  7. Which colour has the shortest wavelength ?
